The Tasmanian Government Information Security Charter and Guidelines are being revised to support ongoing development of information security practice across government.

The Information Security Charter was released in 2003 and the last major revision of the Guidelines was in 2008. Both documents are being revised to:

• Incorporate the Tasmanian Government Identity and Access Management Toolkit in accordance with the National Identity Security Strategy
• Introduce new information security classification markings and handling procedures
• Update governance arrangements to reflect the role of the ICT Policy Board
• Synchronise revision and release of the Charter and Guidelines
• Include new information security standards and handbooks released by Standards Australia

The Charter and Guidelines are being drafted in consultation with the Information Security Reference Group.
