Information security classification

The Information Security Reference Group is revising Section 3 Record Security of the Tasmanian Government Information Security Guidelines. The main focus of the revision is to update controls for marking and handling information.

The Information Security Records Policy in the Tasmanian Government Information Security Charter requires that:

"Agencies are to implement appropriate record security policies and procedures as part of their records management policies and procedures to ensure the security of information access, transmission, storage and destruction."

The Information Security Reference Group is revising the minimum record guidelines to be implemented by agencies. A focus of the revision is to adapt the information security classification and handling standards from the Queensland Government Information Security Framework into the Guidelines to aid secure transmission of records between agencies.
