Standards and guidelinesProvides a list of policies, frameworks, standards and guidelines developed by the Inter Agency Policy and Projects Unit in the areas of information management, information systems, and project management. The use of common standards and guidelines is one way to build the capacity for interoperability between agencies and to assist with achieving a consistent application of policy and procedures across the Tasmanian Government. The standards and guidelines are developed in consultation with stakeholders, generally from Tasmanian Government agencies. The authority which approves the standards and guidelines for use in Tasmanian Government is primarily the Inter Agency Steering Committee, with some being approved by Cabinet. The authority under which each of the standards and guidelines is approved is provided in the document. IAPPU provides a whole-of-government service, Standards Select Online that allows online access to some commonly used standards from Standards Australia International (SAI) and is restricted to Tasmanian Government employees only. The GS1 – 128 barcode is intended to increase the efficiency of payment transactions in Service Tasmania shops through the use of barcodes on relevant documents. Using barcodes will also provide the option of payment via alternative bill payment service providers.
