Information Security Framework

The Tasmanian Government Information Security Framework is comprised of the Tasmanian Government Information Security Charter and the Tasmanian Government Information Security Guidelines.

Cabinet approved the Tasmanian Government Information Security Charter in May 2003. The Charter, together with The Tasmanian Government Information Security Guidelines, forms the Framework. The Charter establishes:

  • Information security principles and policies
  • Important legislative requirements
  • Primary roles and responsibilities for information security

The Guidelines outline procedures for implementing the policies and principles of the charter and draw upon recognised standards.

To aid implementation of the Guidelines, Tasmanian Government employees can access relevant Australian Standards available from the Standards Select Online Service.

The Tasmanian Government WAN and Internet Services Information Security Policies and Standards provides an example of a whole-of-government implementation of the Framework. To request a copy of this document contact ntgroup@dpac.tas.gov.au.
