Web Services Technical Standard

There is an increasing need in government for the exchange of information between systems. This provides a challenge because many new and legacy systems have proprietary interfaces that provide limited scope for interoperability. Web services provide one solution to this problem by providing open standards for information exchange that is supported by a number of application vendors.

However, the use of web services alone does not guarantee interoperability. There are a number of design and technology choices that need to be made to ensure that systems are interoperable. The Tasmanian Government Web Services Technical standard is intended to provide standards information to enable and enhance interoperability when developing web services in the Tasmanian Government.

Additional resources, base on learnings from the Monetary Penalties Enforcement Project, have been provided to support the Standard.
